Brayden Rodgers Obituary, CARTER COUNTY, Tenn. — Brayden Rodgers, a sophomore at Milligan University, was killed Wednesday morning in a crash involving individuals of the university’s cycling team in Hampton, Tennessee.
Rodgers was among a group of Milligan University cyclists involved in a collision with a vehicle on U.S. Highway 19E near Simerly Creek Road, based on to information released by Milligan University and local law enforcement.
Milligan University affirmed that Rodgers and fellow sophomore Haylan Engdahl were killed in the crash. Multiple other Milligan cyclists were seriously injured and were transported for medical treatment following the collision.
Ballad Health confirmed that two people died at the scene and that several hurt victims were taken to Johnson City Medical Center. At least one injured person was transported by air, while trauma surgeons and medical teams responded to the needs of those receiving treatment.
Carter County authorities responded to the crash Wednesday morning, with emergency crews working at the scene. Drivers were asked to avoid the area while agencies handled the event. The circumstances of the collision remain under investigation.
