Rosemary Bolding Obituary, HUNTLEY, Ill. — Rosemary Bolding, 30, of Huntley, Illinois, died Wednesday morning, August 19, 2026, following a two-vehicle traffic crash in unincorporated Kinsman that remains under investigation by the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office and the Grundy County Coroner’s Office.
Deputies were dispatched at approximately 8:55 a.m. to the intersection of W. Gardner Road and S. Johnny Run Road after receiving a report of a two-vehicle crash. According to the preliminary investigation, Bolding was driving a blue 2017 Honda Civic when the collision occurred with a white 2024 Mercedes GLE. An unoccupied white 2022 Ford Utility was also involved after the Honda left the intersection.
Bolding, who lived in the 12000 block of Wisconsin Circle in Huntley, was found inside the Honda following the crash. She sustained major injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Grundy County Coroner John Callahan.
Investigators said Bolding was traveling northbound on S. Johnny Run Road when her Honda failed to stop at a posted stop sign before entering the intersection with W. Gardner Road. At the same time, a Mercedes traveling eastbound on W. Gardner Road entered the intersection and struck the Honda. The Mercedes then left the roadway and came to rest in a ditch at the northeast corner of the intersection.
The Mercedes was driven by a 60-year-old woman from Seneca, who was accompanied by a 64-year-old male passenger. Both occupants were able to exit the vehicle and sustained minor injuries. After the initial collision, Bolding’s Honda continued approximately 500 feet before striking the southeast corner of a residence in the 6900 block of W. Gardner Road and then hitting the rear of the unoccupied Ford Utility parked in the driveway. The resident of the home was inside at the time but was not hurt.
Several emergency agencies responded to the scene, including deputies and personnel from the Mazon, Coal City, Braceville and Verona-Kinsman Fire Departments, along with the Grundy County Coroner’s Office. The action taken followed a crash that resulted in one confirmed fatality and minor injuries to the occupants of the Mercedes.
The Grundy County Sheriff’s Office Reconstruction Unit and the Grundy County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Authorities have indicated that no further information is currently available, and the preliminary account should not be considered a final determination of all circumstances surrounding the collision.
Rosemary Bolding’s passing marks the loss of a 30-year-old Huntley woman whose life ended suddenly following the crash. As the investigation continues, her memory will remain with those who knew her, while her loved ones, friends and loved ones face the difficult days following her passing. The community is encouraged to keep those affected by the tragedy in their thoughts and to remember the importance of safe and attentive driving.
